Year-Round Beers

Pale Ale

We have a mate Nick who isn’t much of a fan of most of our beers. When Nick wants a beer, he wants a beer to drink, not a beer to swirl and sniff. Nick doesn’t really care how many IBU’s are in his beer. Nick couldn’t care less about the type of malts, or hops in it.

We kind of get that.

We believe there’s a beer for all occasions. We don’t always need added coffee, jasmine, hibiscus, oak, jalapeno & jolokia chillies to enjoy a beer. Sometimes we just want a good old-fashioned drinking beer that we can drink while enjoying good times with mates like Nick.

This one’s for the Nicks, & those times that you just want a no nonsense Pale Ale.

Drink up & enjoy.

Winston

Winston

This pale, aromatic ale doesn’t fit squarely into any style guidelines. It’s just something we like to brew and drink. A light malt base combined with oats gives it a pale colour and pleasing body. Bucket loads of Kiwi, US and Australian hops burst out of the glass with notes of tropical fruit, freshly bruised citrus and notes of white grapes. Modestly bitter, the finish is full, refreshing and crisp.

In loving memory of Winston G. Pig, 2007 – 2013.

Malts: Australian pale ale, British pale ale, & rolled oats
Hops: Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, & Galaxy
ABV: 5.6%
IBU: 45

Seasonally Adjusted Beers

Shenanigans brews seasonal batches to suit the climate throughout the year. In general we brew one for each of Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring, but if we think of a new season, then we will probably brew one for that too.

Malt-Assault

Malt Assault

Winter Release 2016

Sick of being blown away by hop bombs? Fight back with a Malt Assault! Our Winter release is a hybrid of two classic German beer styles, Dunkel and Altbier. We’ve used a mixture of light and dark Munich malts, plus a touch of oak smoked wheat, to create an amber coloured ale with a huge malt profile. We threw in a small amount of Australian hops, just to add some of herbal spice, but this beer is all about the malt. Rich, smooth and with very low bitterness, Malt Assault will have the most impact when enjoyed in cool weather.

Malts: German Munich I & II, Oak smoked wheal malt, Redback, & Shepherds Delight
Hops: Helga
ABV: 6.2%
IBU: 28

Flight Path

Flight Path

Autumn Release 2016

Flight Path Ale is a hoppy red ale infused with Flight Path, Double Roasters’ house coffee blend. A combination of 5 different malts provides a solid, refined, malt base for the stone fruit, berry, citrus and passionfruit notes from the Australian and US hops. The coffee is added in two infusions late in the fermentation and lends the beer light fruit, hazelnut and caramel notes that meld seamlessly with the hops & malt.

Malts: Australian pale ale, German Munich, Carared, Redback, oats & pale chocolate
Hops: Mosaic, & Galaxy
Other: Flight Path coffee supplied by Double Roasters www.doubleroasters.com.au
ABV: 6.0%
IBU: 45

Red Sky (2)

Red Sky

Spring Release 2016

An American style IPA infused with jasmine and hibiscus flowers. Australian and US hops give this beer a citrus and passionfruit foundation which is built on by the exotic, floral aroma and flavour of jasmine flowers. The hibiscus flowers give the beer a subtle shade of red and a slightly tart and refreshing finish.

Malts: Australian pale ale, German Munich, & Carared
Hops: Centennial, & Galaxy
Other: Jasmine & Hibiscus flowers
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 50

Grisette

Grisette

Summer Release 2015-2016

Our Grisette is a dry, refreshing, sessionable, farmhouse style ale. Inspired by easy drinking Belgian Saisons, we utilise oats and rye for a slightly rustic edge, backed up with a firm bitterness from new world hops. We ferment it cool with a Belgian yeast strain and dry hop with two hop varieties for a subtle, spicy, tropical fruit aroma. The result is a highly drinkable ale with unique character.

Malts: Australian pilsner, British pale ale, flaked rye, & rolled oats
Hops: varies from batch to batch
ABV: 4.6%
IBU: 30

Stunt Beer Program

Both drinking & brewing the same beers can get a bit boring. Our Stunt Beer Program helps fight that boredom by providing us an outlet to trial new ingredients, & new recipe ideas. These beers are brewed as one-off releases for you to drink, enjoy, & move on to the next beer.

Death By Hibiscus

Each year we brew a special, small batch for Sydney Craft Beer Week. 2016 is no exception… announcing Death By Hibiscus, a saison with insane amounts of Hibiscus and a late spiking of Mandarin zest.
Death by Hibiscus has a crazy 20 grams of Hibiscus flowers per litre of beer, that’s a whole kilo of Hibiscus per keg!

The beer is a vibrant blood red, with a pink head.

Malts: NZ Pilsner, NZ Biscuit, & Wheat
Hops: Topaz
Other: Hibiscus flowers, Mandarin zest
ABV: 6%
IBU: 26

Sabotage

Sabotage

For our 2016 GABS Festival Beer we took a big rich Oatmeal Stout & aged it on bourbon soaked Oak chips, cacao nibs, & a few kilos of single origin Guatemalan coffee beans roasted by our friends at Double Roasters. It was tasting good… so good that we decided to sabotage it the Chocolate Jolokia Ghost Chilli.

Malts: Australian ale, flaked oats, crystal, Victory malt, pale chocolate, & roast barley
Hops: Topaz
Other: organic coconut sugar, bourbon soaked Oak chips, cacao nibs, Double Roasters single origin Guatemalan coffee beans, chocolate Jolokia ghost chilli’s
ABV: 7.1%
IBU: 25

Stuntbeer

Hoppy Gonzales

Hoppy Gonzales is a hoppy American ale with bucket loads of fresh jalapeños added at three stages during the brewing process. Some in the mash, at the end of the boil and then roasted jalapeños were added to the fermenter along with the dry hop. It pours a deep copper to amber in colour with aromas of fresh peppers and herbal, citrusy US hops. On the palate the jalapeños team up with the hops for a herbaceous character that’s warm, but never too hot, while the malt helps temper things nicely.

Malts: Australian pale ale, German Munich, & Carared
Hops: Centennial, & Galaxy
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 50

White-Sky

White Sky

Somewhat of a companion beer to Red Sky, White Sky is an amped up witbier (Belgian white ale) infused with jasmine and chamomile flowers, as well as the classic witbier botanicals of coriander and sweet orange peel and then dry hopped with Galaxy and Mosaic hops.

Malts: Australian pilsner, German wheat, rolled wheat, rolled oats & acidulated malt
Hops: Mosaic & Galaxy
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 45

Swag

We are beer makers, not swag makers. We may one day get a bit more organised & on top of the promotional gear, but for now you can organise to have our logo printed up to order on t-shirts, tea cups, and other weird shit at redbubble – please show your support because the money goes towards our underpaid designer and when he has money he doesn’t drink all our beer.
